World's Top Mount-Everest

Chomolungma or Qomolangma (Tibetan: ཇོ་མོ་གླང་མ) or Sagarmatha (Nepali: सगरमाथा) is the highest mountain on Earth, as measured by the height of its summit above sea level, which is 8,848 meters or 29,029 feet. The mountain, which is part of the Himalaya range in High Asia, is located on the border between Sagarmatha Zone, Nepal and Tibet, China. By the end of the 2007 climbing season there had been 3,679 ascents to the summit by 2,436 individuals. There have been 210 deaths on the mountain, where conditions are so difficult that most corpses have been left where they fell; some are visible from standard climbing routes.Climbers range from experienced mountaineers to relative novices who count on their paid guides to get them to the top. This means climbers are a significant source of tourist revenue for Nepal, whose government also requires all prospective climbers to obtain an expensive permit, costing up to $25,000 (USD) per person.

Rara Lake Of Nepal
Rara Lake is the largest lake of Nepal, situated in Mugu district in the far western region of Nepal, near Gam Ghadi (district-headquarters of Mugu) and Talcha airstrip. It takes around 3 to 4 days of walking to reach Rara from Jumla. The surface is around 8 square kilometer and the perimeter 9 kilometer. The length of the lake is 5 kilometers and it is 2 kilometers wide, the altitude around 3060 meter and the max. depth is 167 meter.
Rara is an unique spot in Nepal. The lake is situated in the Rara National Park and because of its remote location and the violence/threat of a revolutionary communist group (Maoists) the lake has been visited by only few tourists in the past. Only in the second half of 2006 the situation improved and foreign visitors do not need to pay the high fee of around $100 per person to these Maoists anymore.
Conservation
Due to its remoteness the surroundings of Rara Lake are both poor and quite unspoiled, which, for such a beautiful place, is very unusual in an era of extensive traveling and booming tourist business world wide. We hope the Nepali government, local residents, travel agencies and tourists will make efforts to conserve this area. Attention for the conservation is especially important at this very moment (year 2007/2008), since Rara might face a rise in the number of visitors now the region is more accessible and tourists will start searching for alternatives to the Annapurna region now roads are (being) build on both sides of the famous Thorong La pass, making the Annapurna Circuit Trekking and the Jomsom-Muktinath trekking

Some Other Beautiful Places Of Nepal

NAMCHE BAZAR(Base camp of Mount Everest)

If the thought of trekking to Everest Base Camp (EBC) leaves you dripping with sweat and reaching for the nearest cigarette and doughnut then please just consider going as far as Namche. Namche is the last town on the trek before you get to Base Camp. If you were silly enough to not get your supplies from kathmandu (or ate all your mars bars) then this is the cheapest place en route. It also has the most options en route.
Namche is a stunning 3440m above sea level and is the gateway to so many paths in history. Great explorers, great losses, friendships made and broken, the place has a magic... you can almost taste the atmosphere in the air, the taste of hope, joy and wonder! Namche is a days walk from Lukla (or 2 days if you smoke 20-a-day). This is a sometimes bustling town , teaming with Sherpa life. Yaks roam the streets like dogs waking you gently with the sounds of their bells. Food here is plentyful, bakeries, small convience stores and every hotel has it's focal point.. the dining room. Crammed with people from all over the globe either on their way up or coming back down. Whether you are leaving the trek or just starting it then you have to pass by Namche.

KATHMANDU VELLY
The story of Kathmandu began with a sewing machine in the back room of a med student’s flat where it was being used to make outdoor clothing and equipment for friends and family. The medical studies were soon left behind for the climbing and mountaineering that was the true passion, and it was through expeditions into the mountains that the need for a better range of quality outdoor gear became apparent.

NETURAL BEAUTY OF NEPAL

GIRLS WATCHING INDRA JATRA IN KTM.

It is a well known fact that Hinduism and Buddhism are the two major religions of Nepal, each having it's own rules and rituals. However, like most festivals of Nepal, both Hindus and Buddhist unite to celebrate the festival of Indra Jatra. This festival is celebrated by both Hindus and Buddhists with great enthusiasm. It is also believed that Indra Jatra is a festival of classical dances. It is on this very day when one is able to observe numerous varieties of traditional dances. The festival is named after Lord Indra who is known as the god of rain and also as the king of heaven.
The festival of Indra Jatra continues for eight days with much rejoicing, singing, dancing and feasting. People from all over Nepal, mostly those who live within the Kathmandu Valley, gather at the Hanuman Dhoka in Kathmandu. The first day of the festival is viewed by a large number of people. On that day, a long wooden pole is erected in front of the ancient Royal Palace at Hanuman Dhoka, in order to propitiate Lord Indra, the"god of rain". Classical dancers also assemble at the spot, wearing different kinds of traditional masks and costumes and dancing around the courtyard of Hanuman Dhoka to celebrate Indra's visit.

GORKHA DARBAR
In the Nepal war of 1812 the British sent a force of 30,000 against 12,000 Gorkhas (in reality at this time there was no such thing as a Gurkha -- they were called Gorkhalis) thinking in their usual arrogance they would take Nepal by storm. Just the opposite proved to be true. The Gorkhas fought the British to a standstill.
This historical palace is situated on the top of the fortified hill above the township, about one hour's walk uphill from the bus station. On the west side of palace is the temple of Goddess Gorakhkali. There is also a famous cave sheltering the statue of Gorakhnath Baba (sage). It is believed that the name of Gorkha was derived from the name of this sage, whose blessings inspired King Prithvi Narayan Shah for the unification of Nepal. From the top of the hill above Gorkha palace and from a saddle east of thebazaar, the view of Manaslu and Himalchuli is spectacular.

BOUDHANATH:
The stupa of Bodhanath lies 8 km east of Kathmandu. It is the biggest Stupa in Nepal and is located on flat land and encircled by houses & monasteries, where Rinpoches reside. This colossal Stupa is set on concentric ascending terraces in the powerful pattern of a Mandala. Around the base of this strikingly enormous and simple stupa is a ring of 108 images of the Buddha and 147 insets containing prayer wheels.

Map of Nepal
It becomes important for one to know about the interesting places in a country where they can visit. Therefore, in this page, I am going to talk about some of my favorite places in Nepal. Of course, my choices aren't the only good places in Nepal. There are many places in Nepal that are more beautiful than the ones that I am going to talk about. I am only going to talk about three places in Nepal in a little detail here - Kathmandu, Pokhara, and Chitwan. My other favorite places in Nepal that I have been to are Dolpa, Lumbini, Gorkha and Kavre but due to lack of time and space, I am not going to talk about then here. You can find some of those places in the clickable parts of the image below, which will take you to the website I did for my 205 class, where they are explained in detail. All the links open in their own windows. Just close those windows to return to this page.

Pokhara
Pokhara is my most favorite place in Nepal. I spent four of my earliest school years in Pokhara and I have imotional links attached to it but that is not the reason I chose Pokhara here. Pokhara is probably the most accessible place in Nepal from where one can really feel its natural beauty. In the mornings, you can see golden mountains standing tall and straight from anywhere in Pokhara. If you go to the many beautiful lakes, including the Phewa Lake, the most visited lake in Nepal, you can see the clear images of the reflection of those mountains and the view is spectacular. People who visit Pokhara feel as if they are in heaven, not earth. There are other things about Pokhara other than the mountains and the lakes. Pokhara has excellent climatic conditions, which make it suitable to visit and live all year round. It has other attractions such as waterfalls, caves, rivers, gorges, and Pokhara is also a very nice place to shop.

Tibet Information
A brief account of Tibet, its origin, how it grew into a great military power and carved for itself a huge empire in Central Asia, then how it renounced the use of arms to practise the teachings of the Buddha and the tragic conseguences that it suffers today as a result of the brutal onslaught of the Communist Chinese forces is given in the following passages.
Five hundred years before Buddha Sakyamuni came into this world i.e., circa 1063 B.C., a semi-legendary figure known as Lord Shenrab Miwo reformed the primitive animism of the Shen race and founded the Tibetan Bon religion. According to Bonpo sources there were eighteen Shangshung Kings who ruled Tibet before King Nyatri Tsenpo. Tiwor Sergyi Jhagruchen was the first Shangshung King.
Shangshung, before its decline, was the name of an empire which comprised the whole of Tibet. The empire known as Shangshung Go-Phug-Bar-sum consisted of Kham and Amdo forming the Go or Goor, U and Tsang forming the Bar or Middle, and Guge Stod-Ngari Korsum forming the Phug or Interior.
As the Shangshung empire declined, a kingdom known as Bod, the present name of Tibet, came into existence at Yarlung and Chongyas valleys at the time of King Nyatri Tsenpo, who started the heroic age of the Chogyals (Religious Kings). Bod grew until the whole of Tibet was reunited under King Songtsen Gampo, when tha last Shangshung King, Ligmigya, was killed.
The official Tibetan Royal Year of the modern Tibetan calendar is dated from the enthronement of King Nyatri Tsenpo in 127 B.C. This lineage of Tibetan monarchy continued for well over a thousand years till King Tri Wudum Tsen, more commonly known as Lang Darma, was assassinated in 842 A.D.
Most illustrious of the above kings were Songtsen Gampo, Trisong Detsen and Ralpachen. They
are called the Three Great Kings.
